Povidone-iodine Irrigation for Pediatric Perforated Appendicitis May Be Protective: A Bayesian Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial
Topic overview
This pilot RCT in 100 pediatric patients with perforated appendicitis found that povidone-iodine irrigation showed 89% probability of reducing postoperative intra-abdominal abscesses compared to no irrigation, with significant reduction in hospital length of stay.
